My poor feet and legs are so swollen. They are agony, I can't stand bare foot for more than a couple of minutes, the pain is so bad and I'm wearing crocs all day but I'm hoping someone can suggest cheap comfy slip on shoes I could buy. I can't wear socks anymore and the crocs make my feet so hot and smelly
I need something really cushioned.
One thing I am doing which is lovely (for any other sufferers out there) is getting my feet up and covering them with a cold wet towel....so soothing! But I do need shoes so....
Any ideas? .

Try some of those gel inserts....apparently if you pop them in the fridge then in your shoes it's nice (blame my mate if that tip doesnt work lol)
I also bought some peppermint foot spray - lovely and cooling.
Are you making sure there's nothing untoward with the swelling? I know it's perfectly normal to swell in both pregnancy and heat so right now isn't a good time but do check that everythings OK - I had pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy and the swelling was one of the first signs. I don't want to sound alarmist - it's probably just mother nature getting fed up with the weight but better safe etc,,,0 -
I found flip flops were great just to slip on when I couldn't bend to tie laces.:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0

I second scottishchick 27, anything that you can just slip on and don't have to bend down to. I had a buy a pair of shoes 2 sizes bigger than usual but managed to get some decent sandals from Clarks in the sale.0

Birkenstocks or flyflot can be good they cushion the feet and support them but most designs are open to stop you over heating they can be a bit pricey though :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

Sorry, I should have said, my midwife has checked me over and my BP is fine, no headaches etc so def not pre eclampsia. Just elephant feet!0 -
echo what Ellay said above about pre ec'. Best to get it checked by midwife.
I've got three weeks to go and suddenly found my feet and legs are swollen, got the lovely cankles going on!
Suggestions:
Drink plenty of water, could be fluid retention so need to give the body plenty so its not hoarding!
Get partner/friend to give you a foot/leg rub to get circulation going
Try and have your feet/legs up above heart level for 10 minutes a day, keep your head raised slightly though and put a pillow/rolled up towel under your right butt cheek so you're not flat backed when you're laying....
Do ankle rotations as much as you can when you're seated, just roll them round one way, and then the other, also flexing the foot upward and down again when youre sitting helps....

p.s in terms of shoes..... flip flops all the way for me....
failing that, wide fitting ballet pumps/plimsolls xWealth is not measured by currency0 -
New Look do a range of wide-fit shoes and they have nice ballet pumps. Handy as you can just slip them on. You can get them for around £12/£15 too so it's better than spending loads of money for shoes you'll not be wearing for long.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!0 -
I had a pair of pink flip flops, not the sort with the bit between toes, but a strap over the top of my feet. They had a buckle on them, which meant OH could loosen them if my feet grew durng the day.
Got them from Asda, about £5. Wore them solidly for 2 months, including 2 weddings - DS born in August, so feet expanded with pregnancy and heat!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I had severe swelling due to complications. My ankles were the size of thighs and I lost all movement in the joint  My knees were swollen too with limited movement in them.
I used to sit with my feet up as much as I could. If you put a cushion or pillow under your feet, it raises them a bit further and it isn't uncomfortable sitting like that. Also put pillows at the foot of your bed to keep them raised while sleeping.
My feet were so huge, the only thing I could get on were those cheapy flip flops with a toe post and a thin strap across your foot.
I remember having really dry skin with it too and it go so itchy I felt like I wanted to scratch all the skin off. I was slapping body butters and oils on by the handful just to keep me moisturised. Here I go again on my own....0
