Width of a freezer

I want to replace an undercounter fridge in my kitchen with an undercounter freezer. The fridge is 550mm wide but the space is 600mm (someone has put a filler fascia panel in to make it look OK).
Can I buy a 595mm wide freezer, or do you have to leave ventilation space on the side? The websites for freezers say nothing, but I'm sure I've heard it somewhere....

Ventilation from underneath normally, so a 595 will be ok.
I usually fit a grille in the plinth if I can.
Check the instructions before you buy, some are different to others.
