Help reading new gas meter
Got my gas meter replaced yesterday. I am a bit confused how to read it as my reading is 9999966!! There are so many 9 digit. Is it the last 4 digits I should read 9966. The last two digits 66 have red border line and then there is another digit bigger red borner line which seems to be moving up, I guess I ignore this. I check with scottish power meter reading online and mine is completely different. The company is souther gas networks which replaced the gas meter. I also forgot to take the meter reading but he told me had reset the gas meter.

This is the gas meter. Anybody. Thanks0 -
This is normal, the installer would give a reading of all zeros to your supplier, so until it clicks over you will be getting a little free gas.
Enjoy!
You only read the first 5 digits, them in black. So you will start at 00000.
Note you now have a metric meter, make sure when you get a bill that that its taken into account. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Thanks, so the reading should be 99999. I guess SP will have to update my meter reading online as I can only input four digits now.0

Indeed, 4 digit readings for Imperial meters, 5 digit readings for Metric meters. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
