The other week I found a solar powered garden ornament in the form of a polceman with matching police dog. It appealed to my sense of humour so I thouht that I would try and rennovate it. The panel works and also the battery and bulb. Alas the control panel has suffered from attacks from weather, snails condensation and dry joints. I was going to wait until another ornament turned up and cannibalise the control panel out of that one but then I thought that it may be possible to buy one of these control panels from somewhere.
The first port of call was Maplins but I can only find L.E.D.s on their site and optocouplers (whatever they are). Could anyone tell me please what it is that I need (besides the inclination to get out more) and possibly point me in the right direction where to get it ?
If the worst came to the worst, I cold knock up a panel if I could source a circuit diagram, there were only about half a dozen components on it.

What does the "control panel" do?Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0

Given that complete solar lights can be purchased from pound-stretcher type places for about £1.99 it is unlikely to be worth trying to source a control circuit separately.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Light-sensitive switch? Couple of circuits below - both activate 12 volt relays rather than lights/LEDs, but maybe bodgeable.

"What does the "control panel" do?"
It was my terminology for the circuit that switches the L.E.D. on when it gets dark.
Thanks for the links ManAHome, I'm going to modify one of the circuits on the Zen site0
