Pampers adverts...

Can anybody explain to me the logic of the advert speaking to the baby? I just find it really irritating for some reason (yes, I'm odd).

Unless they're actually directing it to adults who wear nappies, of course, but then why would they say things like "You're learning to walk?"

Either the advert makers think babies make the buying decisions, and can do the shopping despite not being able to speak or control their bowel movements, or they're thinking the parents will find this weird method endearing.

I just find it creepy.

has anybody else noticed this?

At least they haven't given them wings yet or invited users to have a happy bowel movement!

When i first read the OP, i read 'speaking to the baby' as 'a speaking baby' and wrote the below: (after re-reading the post, i hastily added this bit to the start - oops)

ohh dont get me started on speaking baby adverts! no, the evian adverts with the skating/synchronised swimming babies are not cute - they freak the hell out of me! Babies doing things they shouldnt be doing - like talking through a hideously-bad CGI mouth is not cute in any way shape or form!!
I smile because I have no idea what is going on :o
