Odd Job Man Needed in London? HELP!!!

What's the best way to go about finding a handy man/odd job man in London? I need to have a laminated floor fitted in the couple of weeks, and then will have some odd jobs, like putting up shelves, mirrors, plastering etc. further down the line.
I've tried asking around friends but have so far drawn a blank, and I've not seen any ads in newsagents windows in my local area (east London near Liverpool Street).
Has anyone got any ideas how I could go about getting hold of a decent handy man with reasonable rates or, better still, any personal recommendations?
