It might be an idea to sign up for their on-line service (I assume they have one). I'm with e-on and their website gives me all sorts of info about my usage so I can keep track of my bills & payments, see when I'm using most/least and also tips to reduce useage.

This would help you get a better grip on your bills - something we all need to do for all utilities, our banks etc. Don't assume these companies always get it right, or that if they get it wrong they will correct it quickly. You need to be in control !!

Good luck in getting it sorted.

A bit over £200 for 6000kWh over a winter quarter, yes, that's an okay, average usage. The fact that you are out at work all day is not that significant - so do most households!

If anything, your useage is quite modest.

But considerably over £24 a month.

You've not mentioned if there is an outstanding balance. This would give us an idea of how much of the £80 is for an outstanding balance and how much for ongoing usage.

    PS 4x£24= £98, 3x£24=£72, so closer to 3x, not 4.

Our supplier is EDF and we used to pay £ 24 a month... from the end of June, we will have to pay £ 80 a month instead!
But a quadrifold increase for the gas????
