Best way to remove silicone sealant ?

Whats best way of getting the bloody stuff of the edge of the bath etc ?
Its gone all moldy and needs to be re sealed

I've tried the stuff that claims to remove it and failed
ended up using a craft knife and a stanley knife to remove itEx forum ambassador

As above & then pull it of with your fingers & then use a razor blade.
& if you are really fussy use a very fine sandpaper on the rest.Not Again0 -
agreed ,thats what Ive done in the past but theres always a black residue left and it goes all "bally" when you try and rub it off with a finger...I was wondering when the majority is pulled out via the stanley knife,is there some sort of solvent to get the last bits off ?0

There is quite a few makes of silicone "eater".
But it doesnt make it much easier to get off & if you leave any trace of it on it will decay the new stuff straight away.Not Again0 -

Whatever you use to get t off, always clean the rea down with methylated spirit. Being a non-oil based product, it cleans and evaporates entirely so helps provide a good key for the new silicone.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
