Nightmare!!!!!!

When we moved into our current house we packed up our previous house, shoved it all in a big lorry and a couple of small vans, called into the fish and chip shop and went to my Mums to wait for the call to say we had completed.
On receiving said call we drove on over to our new house only to find the previous owners still moving out. They were moving to another street round the corner, in the same village, and obviously decided they would do it in a couple of trips in a transit van. Now this house was packed to the rafters with 'stuff' including a motorbike and iguana complete with glass vivarium in one of the spare bedrooms - upstairs bedrooms that is!! Added to this the woman was pregnant and they had her two elderly parents helping them - so nothing was done particularly quickly. Needless to say it was a nightmare and in the end, as the lorry had to be returned before 5pm, we had to move everything into the ground floor while they still moved out of the first floor. I think they did their last trip at about 9pm and then came back the next day for the contents of the conservatory and shed in the garden. Oh and as it was winter they left the fish (koi carp) in the pond and came back for them in the spring :rotfl:
I sometimes think about moving again but only have to remind myself of that day and it puts me right off the idea:D0 -
Omg these stories are priceless !! Although I bet not at the time.0

My parents win !
They moved into their house 40 years ago. It was a former farmhouse surrounded by a golf course to the front, fields to the rear, the former barn to the side, which had been converted to residential use and a new build house to the other side. The former owners of the farmhouse had cut the garden in half and built a new house next door. So there were three houses next to each other and nothing else but greenfield land.
They moved in at around 5pm on a winters evening to discover that the former owners had taken all the lightbulbs, light switches, light fittings, etc etc. They the woke up in the morning to discover they had aso removed the entire garden - not a single plant remained.
I know this does not sound too bad but don't forget that the former owners and stealers of all these items were their new neighbours. As you can imagine, they never became best of friends with their new neighbours. during the 15 years they lived next door to each other.0 -
I think it's fair to say that 'OMG' doesn't quite cover that. And how petty: taking lightbulbs and plants...it's a wonder they didn't tap into their electric supply as well! Please call me 'Pickle'

Phew, compared to these stories I think we've moved into the "perfect house". all our previous owners had done is wire the oven to the electricity in the conservatry (not sure how????) and only stripped wallpaper off parts of the walls but painted over all of it. so now we have to peel of all the paint and the wallpaper underneath. oh, they also used filler on the laminate flooring where they had cut it too short (in quite alot of places)0

Not sure if there is a prize for this one - we finally completed on our new place in April. We weren't planning to move in straight away as it needed gutting and rewiring, new CH, plastering etc. Completed Friday, went over to see the state of it -and the gentleman who sold it to us was still there. He was packing, just very slowly, but promised to be done by the end of the day. Our electrician was due to start 8am Saturday - we turned up Saturday morning to find the house still full. We were wandering around loudly moaning and making nasty comments about the previous owner - when he came downstairs in his dressing gown! The packing went a bit quicker once we started ripping the house apart around him! We eventually took the keys away from him on the Sunday, dumped to rest of his stuff in the garage and told him to collect it before it was nicked, as we weren't going to lock the garage. It actually can't be locked, as we discovered later!
The renovations went well, we're moving in tomorrow :-)

Some people have a cheek: don't they understand the concept of a 'deadline'? They could have at least spoken to you about it if there had been a problem to see if something could have been arranged. Please call me 'Pickle'

I just can't imagine what would have happened if we'd had a removal van of stuff waiting! Add that to the 5 week old baby I had in my arms, and there would have been a nasty scene.... He's now 11 weeks old and I can't wait for him to be able to move into a room of his own!

Not sure he'll care, but at least I'll get some relief from his snoring! The boy got bass... He sleeps through, which is brilliant for 11 weeks, but I still get kept awake by the snuffling and snoring... Roll on tonight
