When I had a problem with Dell, I couldn't get it resolved either through their call centre. In desperation I called Trading Standards who advised me to send a letter recorded delivery to their uk address detailing what the problem was and to give them a number of days to resolve the problem. I got an immediate response from the uk division and the matter was sorted.
  • Wish I'd known about Michael's email address when I was having trouble with Dell customer 'service' . I repeatedly asked them to get someone in the UK who could resolve my problem to contact me but they wouldn't / couldn't.

I guess they find it's cheaper to field 10 calls in India than 1 in the UK or Ireland. Doesn't do much for customer satisfaction though.

Shame, as they have lost the chance to quote for a share of my £150K pa spend on IT equipment. Oh well!
  • Always best to put something in writing and quote dates, times and full names where possible.

Must say I am a little confused as to why you would order and cancel 3 PC's, without resolving the original issues ?????

Sad to say that the simple solution is not to buy Dell! As you might guess from your buying experience it's even worse trying to deal with a problem after you've bought and if you check the web you'll find lots of us that have problems with Dell products and service.

    Not worth the hassle.

Did that and received a call from the person in India that I was complaining about for being rude and condescending, not to mention a the fact that the machine is not of merchantable quality.

I am geting to the point of claiming against the credit card company as Dell ain't interested.

Well the PC was delivered eventually yesterday and fortunately it is fine...and as per the spec we ordered.

Despite being told that the credit card had been cancelled, two transactions have been removed and one remain £329 exists...

So on that basis it appears that my father has been charged twice (one debit, one credit card transaction). Dell also called yesterday and said they would refund this but they don't exactly make alot of sense so we will keep an eye on things over the next few days.

....I'm so realieved the PC is OK.

Yep, went through this at christmas with two laptops, total nightmare and eventually got it sorted after nearly 5 weeks. Both laptops returned to Dell and full refund eventually given (both were incorrect specs) after many, many phone calls/emails.

I would NEVER advise anyone to buy from Dell, they really do have the worst customer service call centre on the planet.

This was my main reason, three months ago, when searching for a new p.c., I didn't use Dell again.
I purchased from and would recommend highly a small company in Yorkshire https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk who build and supply excellent spec. machines at very competitive prices. Their "local" call rate customer services, after sales and technical support are all based at their Holmfirth premises and second to non. In my experience anyway.
