wishing my life away

I totally relate to this. I spend the week of payday playing with my spreadsheets seeing what happens with varying amounts of payments, then I get paid and wait impatiently for payments to leave my account, then I update my spreadsheets. For the remaining two weeks I chill. Only joking, I obviously stare at my spreadsheets some more!
I'm very very sad

My husband gets paid on the first of each month and it's his money we tend to use to pay off bills. I always start to feel down around the 20th as there's so much month left before I can pay any more off and i've the fix of paying money of has worn off. What will I do when it's all paid off? Start on the mortgage I expect!January budget

I think we need to put this into perspective here
Paying off debt is a great feeling, and the wait in between can indeed be a nightmare.
The only way to combat this is to develop more hobbies and interests.
This is so easy these days, and with the internet it is free (in lots of cases) to find something new to learn.
Time goes a lot quicker this way, and instead of feeling like you wish your life away, pointlessly worrying, you may learn something useful or at least feel better about yourself (and probably become a more interesting person in the process).
This also means instead of being out wasting money, you will be at home, more than entertained!

The thing is, what are we all going to do for a fix once it is all paid off? Watching our savings grow I suppose. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I get the very same feeling. One way I try to work around this is to 'claim back' some budgeted money. eg if I walk home instead of getting the bus, I've freed up 2 quid that I'd already budgeted to lose. I can then put that straight into paying off the outstanding credit card balance.0

Whats now making it worse is I've just been handed my wage slip:T !
I have £180 in a seperate account that was to pay for our 5th anniversary celebrations but were now just going for a local meal so won't spend much - my dilema is... do I....
a) pay it off the credit card
b) save it to pay the £205 evening class fees (needed in 3 weeks time)
c) book a hotel and suprise my partner for our anniversary!:o
a) is really pulling at my strings but b) also needs paying soon!:o

I completely agree - i used to look forward to pay day because it meant I could go and blow a load of cash on rubbish, but now it's so I can update my spreadsheet!
To keep me going through the month I set myself weekly goals. First week's goal was list 5 items on Amazon - I listed 14
2nd week was to only spend £10 on food for that week. Think I managed £7.50ish
3rd week was to spend less than £2 on a night out - I spent 50p
Latest one is too pay £40 into my account left over from the money I allowed myself this month...I have £70 to pay in!
I'm becoming obsessed, I set myself goals and feel i have to beat them! Was debt free... then went travelling!0
