HIP pack question...

I put my house up for sale two years ago and the offer with the estate agent was "use our lawyers and you'll get your HIP pack for free". I'm planning on taking my house off the market but I'm wondering if I'll still be charged for the HIP service, even though it's now been scrapped?
Does any one know?! I'm guessing I'll still have to pay for it?

If it was me I'd phone them up and ask where you stand with them now being abolished.
If you dont ask you dont get to know....

2 years ago? I should think the HIP pack would be the least of your concerns with the estate agent!

Yea... tell me about it!! I did sell last July, but then in November, the buyer pull on the last day...!!! And it's been sat on the market again since!! The estate agent seems to make no effort at all...

As mentioned, it's now let out so I'm wanting to pull it off the market, but I don't have the money to pay for the HIP pack so I'm stuck...!

You'll need to read the small print of your contract. Only it can say what the true meaning of the quoted advertising blurb is.

The fact that HIPs have now been suspended doesn't come in to it. The issue is whether you owe money for the service (HIP preparation) that has already been performed.

If it was me, I'd write to them withdrawing the property from the market and not mention the HIP. They may have forgotten about it......... If they remember, well you'll have to pay.

  • We too put our house on market 2years ago. No viewers been sent from agent . We too do not want to sell now but agent said we had to give 2 weeks written notice, next day had a letter from E.A. asking for nearly £500 for HIPS. They did not wait for our letter.:D:mad: So it looks like it will have to stay on books. IS THIS RIGHT?????
Can they do this now. I did read that some agents are just trying to make money out of house sellers.
