Hi All,
First time poster so please be nice!
I left my job at the end of Feb and started my own business selling promotional products. Business has been coming in slowly and my little savings have dwindled rapidly...
I haven't paid myself a salary just a little mileage expenses so far but someone suggested I should apply for Income Support to help get me through the next few months...
Does anyone have any knowledge of whether this might be possible - I'm not entirely sure where to go for advice so thought I might see if any of you good people might have some suggestions...
Thanks a miilion
Matt

Hope you get it making a profit soon!9/70lbs to lose

Income support is for lone parents who dont work and sick/disabled. So the person who told you that has their information wrong.
Only thing would be JSA but you would have to be seeking full time employement also0 -
you need to give more details. do you have a partner that works? do you have kids?0

Can you not look for a full time job? work on the business in the evenings/weekends..?
In that case you could claim job seekers, and possibly housing benefit and council tax benefit.
Do you have your own house? rent? pay council tax?9/70lbs to lose

Without not knowing a lot more about your personal circumstances, there is of course the possibility of claiming Tax Credits. All you have to show is that the business is registered with the HMRC and that you are actively trying to get it up and running. To gain the max. you would have to show that you spend at least 30+ hrs pw running it. That would include time promoting it etc etc etc, it should be easy to achieve those hours. Have a look at the HMRC website or put another posting on here asking for further help. You would of course have to give a lot more info to get the best advice.0 -
