Hi all,

I started signing on around the end of january, I was told I was entitled to JSA for 6 months (was going to run out in july if employent had not been found by then)

I found a job at the beginning of April, which has now been terminated as they felt I wasnt right for the role (they said I wasn't confident enough, which was true, I did not have any training at all so do not see how I could be, but thats a different matter),

I have gone to the job centre to re-sign on...a rapid reclaim? whilst I jobsearch again.

My question is this...are they going to re open my old claim or start a new one?

Last tax year I was on Maternity Allowance as I had just started a new job and was not eligible for SMP so am unsure if this would qualify me for enough NI contributions?

Previous to that I have worked full time for the last 10 years.

I hope someone can help me, I am getting very worried! It took me almost 2 months to find a job again, I can't be without any money for that long!

Your claims will link, which means that you will start where you left off with JSA(cont)-ie if you have had four months JSA, you would be entitled to the balance of time of two months. A rapid reclaim should be a much quicker process than when you first signed on, as most of your details will already be held.

oh, perfect, thats good, hopefully that will happen and i will find a job again quickly!
