Can anyone recommend an alternative web browser to Microsofts Internet Explorer and also an alternative to Microsofts Outlook Express for email?

As an alternative to IE - I have recently switched to Mozilla Firefox and really like it. Got a built in pop-up blocker (I know they have included one for IE with the latest service pack for Win XP), and I like the tabbed browsing (hard to explain so I won't even try :-) ) Also seems to be faster than IE. You should have a look.
Hope this helps. I'm not sure on alternatives to Outlook Express - sorry. Why do companies offer you "free gifts?"
Since when has a gift NOT been free?0 -
Thanks I'll have a look at that.0

Have to agree with mr VB, firefox rocks. The people who brought out Firefox have also got an email client called Thunderbird, which is worth checking out too.

Fire fox is great and can't be recommended enpough. It does not suffer from the security holes that I.E does and looks better. You can easily set up Firefox to be the default browser but unfortunately I.E must be left on the system. Whats more you can speed up loading times as follows:
1. Type "about:config" in the adress field.
2. Set the value of network.http.pipelining to "true".
3. Set the value of network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to "100".
4. Set the value of network.http.proxy.pipelining to "true"
5. Set the value of nglayout.initialpaint.delay to "0"
Once you have become more adventureous try these others, treat these with more caution.http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=53650&postdays=0&postorder=asc&postsperpage=15&start=0

You could also try good old NetScape. Several of the online banks now fully support it, adn quite a few sites load considerably quicker than when using IE.

No it might not have the same security holes as IE - it has it's own totally different ones. Firefox has racked up more security advisories than IE, in half the time. Admittedly, it fixes them a lot quicker than MS does.Fire fox is great and can't be recommended enpough. It does not suffer from the security holes that I.E does and looks better.0 -
