As I say Hamish I would rather believe Vince Cable and and Ken Clarke than you.

That's really all you needed to say. Who could be more biased than spokesmen from the two parties that just took over and want to blame everything they're going to do on the previous government? Hamish hasn't just been asking you to believe him, he's been providing sources, but clearly you're not interested in seeking out the truth.

Our deficit is larger than the US and the Eurozone as a whole. Which countries did worse than us in the recession? Which massive stimulus packages did other countries have? Eurozone have not done QE yet.

    r.

Just about to start, will it be too little too late again

According to Radio 4's More Or Less, this lunchtime (generally regarded as a fairly unbiased source) the UK's government debt stands at around £90,000 per household and is still increasing.

Spin your way out of that, socialists!

Programme is repeated at 8 O'clock tonight (Sunday) - it is a good listen for both the deficit and proportional representation systems.

Point remains we are nowhere near the highest of the developed nations.

Which is a bit like saying we are nowhere near the worst smelling sphincter on the proctology ward.
    Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!
  • Which is fine because economics is always about your position relative to others. Having massive debt when others are kis is bad. Having massive debt when the rest have even more massive debt is better. Similarly unemployment - 2.5m vs before bad, that 2.5% being 8% vs more than double elsewhere good.

The problem that posters like Emy have is that they hold a dogmatic position and seek evidence to reinforce that dogma. The fact that impartial sources demonstrate her view ti be wrong doesn't matter - simply ignore every fact posted and quote politicians Because clearly they must be right and all those economists at the EU, OECD et al must be wrong.

if you read what people post on this forum this would be true... if you live in the real world it's not the case

So the world's established economies are all going to hell with a WW2 type deficit problem BUT we are not at the head of the Q ?
Meanwhile the ordinary sheeple are blissfully ignorant.

Let's get real - any body got a line on who will win the Eurovision song contest?
