Should Argos have its own sub board?

Argos seems to go on and on and i think it will be persistent. So i wondered whether you'd like a sub-board just for Argos. Or does it help to keep Argos in the main Grab-it thread. If it is a sub-board and it calms down and some-stage we have the ability to merge the posts back into the main boards, so its no problem.

I shall put the decision to the vote so have your say in the poll

  • Besides having turned into an un-official chat/club ;) . I think it should.

    Reason Argos bargains are cyclic.

Whatever is deleted from the 6 monthly "new" catalogue, is slowly reduced in price, usually 25% then 50%.
If stock remains some two months into the new catalogue, then it goes on a list (RO, run off) that is circulated to staff, (some 10 to 12 weeks in) this has new stock at 75% discount and display stock at 85% discount. It has been so everthus.

Last Autumn someone printed their girlfriends list and you know the rest. There are signs that Argos is trying to pre-empt this, we shall see.

    Moi....? ;)

Yes I think it should have its own sub board, as it does seem to never end with Argos.:)
  • Voted yes, as it's something I expect to continue, at least for the forseeable future.

Yes - as not only is there the possibility of cyclical (sp?!) RO sales, but they often seem to have bargains throughout the year on the "current" catalogue. :D

voted no as I look at this board for bargains, i think i would miss them if they were an argos bargain on sep board, soon someone will say lets have a sep board for each retailer that comes up alot on this board eg dell
If you dont ask for discount you don't get discount

I think it's an ace idea and should be done. There is so much to discuss concerning Argos, it would be good to get it away from all the other bargains and onto it's own dedicated board.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)

By staying on topic I take it you mean removing the chat element of the Argos thread? This to me has made the Argos thread the unique thread that it has become. If we hadn't chatted and become friends through helping each other across the country probably half the people who found the bargains wouldn't have got the goods that they wanted. Personally I wouldn't have got a few of the Argos things I did get without people going out of their way to help and hopefully I was able to repay the favour maybe not to the same person but to Pay It Forward.

Without the chat to enable us to make friends this just wouldn't have happened as many of us wouldn't have taken the time to help total strangers who merely said I Want.

The Argos thread more or less has been self moderated by the users themselves sorting out any "problems" because the regular readers KNOW what people have done to make this thread enjoyable. :D

I'm a qualified yes. Perhaps go conservative with a catalogues board, and perhaps one for department stores? Oh, and perhaps one for Dell.
