Buy-to-let landlords rush to sell before capital gains tax rise

If anyone's selling they're only doing it right now to avoid a bit of tax if CGT rises. They would have sold soon anyway. It's not like every landlord's offloading their entire portfolio and ditching their business just to save a few quid in tax.
Same thing happened when people bought before the stamp duty went up again. Nobody said 'Oh look, everyone's suddenly rushing to buy houses whether they want one or not just to avoid a bit of tax'.
It artificially inflated the figure for a while as everyone who was buying pushed it through quick.
Same think is happening now but they're selling.0 -

Don't you find it a bit strange that some of the bears think it's 'landlords panicing' yet those same LL's would be doing it to avoid 40% tax, hardly a situation that equates to panic.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Read the whole article, Hamish, rather than cherry-picking the paragraphs you like the look of.
The general direction is extremely clear.
Landords panicking - rushing to sell.
Which is good news, as we all know more supply without corresponding demand = lower prices.
Which is clearly what is worrying you.
Well I'm not rushing. I'm in it for the long term. Really.0 -

Am I supposed to be panicking? Oh, ok.

Must come on here more often to see what I should be up to.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
