Hi, Today I've received a call from toyota centre asking me to book my toyota aygo for it's first year car service. They said it's due on 29/05/10. Is it compulsory? Its only £4000 miles so far. What is "While you wait" service?

    Hello oki1875

I think that the 'While you wait' service means that the car service starts promptly/as soon as you arrive at the Toyota garage.............and you can read a newspaper, watch television and help yourself to hot drinks and biscuits..........while you wait.

Have a look at your Toyota Service record book, it will state something like:

    Intermediate x thousand miles/1 year*

    *Whichever comes first

My Toyota Service record book (I have an Avensis) states:

    Intermediate 10,000 miles/1 year*

If your car is low mileage but you've had it for 1 year, that's why they've contacted you. If you don't have a full service history (with Toyota dealer stamps) when you sell your car, it might reduce the price you're offered for it.;)

    Regards

    YES it's compulsary.

It'll void your warranty if you don't have it done within a reasonable amount of time of it being due also. (you dont need to get it done by a Toyota dealer, but I would tbh)

I would get your service done, if you had a warranty problem and it could have been avoided or found at the service then you'll have to pay for the repair.

Toyota are usually quite good, I used to take mine's to a dealer that was in a big retail park, I'd drop off the car at opening time(8am) then go to the big Asda and get a big breakfast, then I'd wander back to the garage have a cuppa and the car would usually be ready, especially the first one, it's pretty much an oil change.

As for using another independant garage you can do this as long as you get them to stick to Toyota's service guidelines and use their parts, and it is good to ask them for receipts to show this just in case there is any come back with a warranty claim.

The other thing to remember is if you take it to the Toyota garage they can also check for any recall's due on the car and carry out any repairs.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

With the amount of problems with Toyotas recently I wouldn't consider anywhere but a dealer, otherwise they may be looking for an excuse later if they need one.
