Hi, was wondering if anyone can help... My uncle found out he had cancer a few months back and now has been told that he only has 6 months to a year. My question is what benefits is he entitled to. Also my father will be his full time carer, but he is on JSA at the moment and has to sign on every fortnight, so what will he have to do?
Thanks.
Thanks.

He could claim DLA if under 65 or AA if over 65. There are special rules for people with a terminal illness if his gp/consultant is willing to fill in DS1500.
If he gets mid rate care dla or above, your father could claim Carers allowance if he looks after him for 35 hours a week or more. Then your father could claim Income Support instead of JSA (ie won't have to look for a job). He won't get the full amount of carers allowance as its classed as income, but what he will get is a carer's premium on top of his Income SupportThe Cabbage
