North of London hotel recommendation needed

Hi all
I need to drive to London soon, but don't want to drive into central London - thinking of stopping somewhere just outside of the M25 and getting the train in. My thoughts are the Hemel Hempstead/St Albans area.
Anyone have any suggestions - preferably a hotel within walking distance of a train station.
Thanks everyone.

Will you be staying at the hotel ?
I used to drive to the PremierInn at Borehamwood (Off the M1 - actually inside the M25 I think ) and then jump on the tube in the morning. The hotel was very good at letting me leave the car in their carpark - but ALWAYS ask in advance if this is possible (to avoid potential extra charges)
Edit: Another one I've used is the Ilford PremierInn - again let me leave my car for the day, the tube of opposite and the hotel is off the end of the M11 - dead simple to get to.“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

You're welcome.
Just one point on the Borehamwood hotel - I seem to recall that the carpark was shared with some football [STRIKE]stadium[/STRIKE] ground?? It may be worth checking if there is a match on as this may limit the spaces “That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -
We live in Apsley, a suburb of Hemel Hempstead and there is a Holiday Inn right opposite the train station: 2 mins walk, max. The trains to/from London are at least every half hour and take 25 or 30 mins into Euston. There's plenty of parking at the hotel.0
