Police took my licence, when do I get it back!

Hi,

I got pulled on 22/04/2010 for being on the phone whilst driving. The police officer took my driving licence giving me 28 days to pay.

I paid today on the 28th day (make them wait - plus the ticket had an automated service which they had problems with as the contact number so I used that as an excuse, which they knew about and believed).

I just wondered how I got my licence back?

Cheers

    It will come back eventually.

It's still valid, so what's the poblem?

  • So you leave it as late as possible to pay then demand to know when your licence will be back.

Maybe they will take as long as humanly possible too.

I know ironic isn't it, the reason I need it is because I am getting my new car and have had part on finance and what the licence to clear funds.

    Its called Karma :D

As for your question. It can vary from force to force but I would expect it to appear within 14-28 days normally.

Some forces/courts might if you explain the circumstances return it to you with a print out for the DVLA on the understanding you will send it off and have the points added ASAP although unlikely for this sort of situation.

I have just requested another one from dvla as I think they will be awkward!

New car is Vauxhall Insigna, mixed reviews, I like it but it doesn't come with bluetooth had parking sensors fitted etc but that is next on my list told it was factory upgrade but I am sure they will do it. Bought a headset off ebay though!

The ticket you were given acts as your temporary license.

uh your told your licence will be returned when you pay up you leave it as long as possible to pay so effectivly YOU HAVE DELAYED YOUR OWN LICENSE BEING SENT BACK TO YOU!!!!!!! but in the mean time you hunt and buy a car knowing youd need it.. stupidity rings to mind!
