Hi
Not 100% sure if this is the right place, but at the moment i'm a tad annoyed with Tescos.
Last week my mother's TV broke down*, as she doesn't need anything special, but needed a new TV in a hurry I popped down to Tesco and picked her up one of the Technika TV's that the shelf sticker said had a free 3 year warranty.
The TV itself is fine, it's quite a nice set and certainly good enough for my mum
However I seem to be getting the run around with the free warranty.
Last Thursday when I bought the TV I asked specifically at the CS desk about it to be told that the receipt is all that is needed - however the receipt only states a 1 year warranty, and doesn't even state the model number of the TV (I didn't spot that until I got home).
So today I rang the Customer Service line as it's been bugging me, and the lass on the phone was very helpful but seemed a little unsure, she checked and came back with the answer that there should have been a form at CS to fill in.
So off I pop to Tesco again, this time to be told at the CS desk that either the receipt is enough (which doesn't state anything of the sort), or a leaflet in the box.
I get home, and check the box again (having put it carefully in the loft last week), no leaflet.
So which is right?
Receipt that only states one year? (and not even the model number of the TV**)
Customer Service line who state that the store should have a form?
Or missing leaflet from the instruction booklet?
*An old, very heavy CRT
**So I can envisage fun and games if 2 years down the line the TV does develop a problem, trying to get them to sort it.

I have the leaflet from Tesco regarding the 3 year warranty. It says:-
Please ensure that you keep your Tesco Product proof of purchase. You will be required to produce it in the event that you make a repair request.
In Year 1 Tesco Electrical Helpline 0845 456 6767
In Years 2&3 Tesco Warranty Plan Helpline 0845 075 04050 -
moonrakers, already took a picture of the shelf label
DCF79, I'm probably going to do that tomorrow.
gordikin, did you have to fill in details of the TV?
That's what is worrying me as much as anything, if it needs to be registered for the extra warranty (which is what normally seems to be the case, and going by what was said on the phone sounds likely) in 2 years or whatever it's going to be reliant on whoever deals with it knowing the date of the promotion.0 -
Does the receipt not have a printed barcode on it for electrical product's warranties? When its scanned that would have all the details on it would it not?Total Debt: 1383/ £8121
Aiming to clear 50% by Xmas 2012 :j0 -
I bought the TV online so have confirmation email as proof of purchase and the 3 year warranty is mentioned. What size TV did you buy as warranty is for 26" and above?0

The receipt has a barcode, but specifically only mentions 1 year warranty on all electrical goods (which combined with what i'd been told over the phone is what is worrying me).
It's a 32" model, so definitely covered by the offer
I might ring the CS line again tomorrow and see what they say.0
