Missing camera

Hi All
I bought a camera from an internet-based company which I later discovered had a fault so I took it in for repairs. I explained when I did this that I would be moving but didn't have my new address which they assurred me was fine as they would contact me before posting it. I had previously lost my mobile so gave them my new mobile number. I didn't hear anything from them so eventually emailed them (I had misplaced the return note at this point) but didn't get a response. A few months later I located the returns note and phoned them. Their response was that they called me and I didn't respond so they sent the camera to the previous address. They maintain that the number they have for me is my old one and there is no record of my current number (I noticed that on my returns note, the salesperson put my new number under the "Reason for return" section). Therefore they maintain they tried to contact me and when I didn't respond they posted the camera which was safely received (but of course, not by me). Trying to locate the camera at the previous address has proved unsuccessful.
They have offered me a replacement camera to a value of about 45% of what I paid for mine. I don't feel that the specs of this camera are equivalent of mine (mine has since been discontinued), so I am unhappy with this offer. Do I have a leg to stand on or should I just be happy to get another camera from them?

Why did you not contact them as soon as you knew your new address?
You waited two months?
Lost your phone. Lost the returns note.
If they offer anything, I would take it... before you lose their offer.

I didn't lose the returns note - I just wasn't sure exactly where it was since I have been moving frequently (every few months) because of my job. I was expecting to be contacted by them (which I had been assurred would be the case and was told it could take quite a while for the camera to be repaired) which is why I didn't worry too much about it. However, it through their mistake that I don't have my camera therefore I feel that an offer of an inferior camera is not acceptable.0

Losing my phone has nothing to do with anything - I could just as easily have changed my mobile number for one or another reason; the result would have been the same, my giving them a new contact number for me which they did not use and then say to me that they attempted to get hold of me.0
