Area information???

I am looking all over to London to buy my first home and I am not able to find out if a particular area is worth looking at or not...
Does anyone know of any websites where I can check the local information about any area? Like whether its a good area to live in or not. Is it safe? The recent problems in the area and stuff like that?
I have looked at upmystreet and it gives me some info about the area, but not all of what I am looking for.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

what exactly do you want???
Upmystreet gives crime figures, the type of person who lives in an area, schools etc???Anything I write is based on my opinion only. Before acting upon any advice from anyone on a forum further professional advice should be sought.0 -
Might be worth posting any particular areas you are contemplating and then seeing if any board members have experience of/live in the areas. Then maybe spend a weekend or better still several weekends driving about or catching a train and walking to see what it is like, if there are areas to be avoided or nice parts, what the transport/shops/schools etc are like etc.
Maybe even chat to estate agenst about areas, although I'd tend to be very cautious about any advice from an estate agent....0 -
https://www.firsttimenerves.co.uk is quite useful as it provides various links to different aspects, including upmystreet. This is from Skipton, but is a very useful bit of information.I am a Mortgage Adviser

youll find the internet can be a mine of information for this sort of thing.
just type in the place name an you may find it has its own community website, this is certainly the case for almost anywhere outside London and may well be the case for places in London as well. These sites will give you lots of info and if they have a chat forum you can get the lowdown from a local who has no need to sell the area to you.
You might also want to try, for example, searches such as Hendon + Problems + Anti Social + Facilities. Youd be surprised at what you can turn up if you are prepared to put in the time and not be put off if your intial searches dont lead anywhere.
Another good place to try is the local newspaper websites of an area, these will give you loads of invaluable info, not just the news but whats on in and around the area, and again you will find they often have chat forums or messageboards.I can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite

A good website to visit is https://www.homecheck.co.uk
Unfortunately though, the site is down at present,
possibly worth trying in a day or so.0
