It's a while since I bought mine for work, so can't help directly, but ours is a Ricoh and does the job very happily.
My main 'need' was the ability to fax up to 20 pages at a time. That upped the price a bit, so think about what you want to do with it before you make the decision. If it's just the odd page you're sending or receiving, and you don't expect that to change, then a cheaper model will meet your requirements. But we were being driven mad by the previous machine which would only send 10 pages at a time, and we had 15 page referral forms to fax on a regular basis! Also because it has a reasonable size paper tray for incoming faxes, I'm not forever being hassled because it's not working (ie it's run out of paper!)Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
If it fits the bill a Multi Function Device can provide
Fax, Photocopier, Scanner and Printer all in one.
But that is only if you may benefit from the other components.
The HP Photosmart 3310 is a good example.0 -

For light use a multi-function device should be fine, the OP needs to think about his use and decide accordingly!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Our Ricoh tends to empty a laser cartridge every 12 months. Cartridge World refill it for me. I have no idea how many sheets this prints for us, but feel I can't grumble at not having to change it more than once a year.
I'm also delighted that I very rarely need to top up the paper for incoming faxes! Because I can load 50 sheets at a time. After having a machine that took no more than 20 sheets, this is a great relief!
So before going shopping, the OP needs to work out if they need a light duty, medium duty, or heavy duty fax. I repeat my much earlier point about the number of outgoing sheets you can feed through at once - if you never send more than 5 pages your choice is pretty well universal, but if you regularly send 15 pagers then you need a big outgoing paper slot!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I would agree with the Samsung SF-5100. Costs very little to run and can double up as a copier. The Magic series (Philips) cost an absolute fortune for the thermal transfer refill film.“Official Company Representative
