Got my date -- now what?

So I'm booked in to go BR on 15th June. What do I do in the meantime? For example, I've been ignoring all the calls and letters from creditors. Do I tough it out and keep ignoring them, or answer and say I'm going BR?

And what about banking? I know this is endlessly discussed by I can't open a Co-op or Barclays account until after I go BR because I owe them money. I go bankrupt on 15th June and my rent is due to go out on the 19th? Will that still happen, or should I make other arrangements for the rent and other bills?

Personally I would not tell them about your BR, I just ignored the calls. Sorry I cannot help you with your banking problems, only to say that the coop will not open an account for you if you owe them money. Hope you get something sorted.

    Hiya

go open your new account as long as you are not in brighton you are fine.
Sort out all your direct debits etc

just ignore the calls if you can, but if you answer dont tell them about the BR just say you are taking advice from - CCCS/ CAB or whoever

    Good luck

  • If you can make other arrangements do wolfers if not I would go into a barclays and have a chat to them explain you would like a basic account but are going br. They are you option as I beleive they will still entertain you despite being a creditor.

As for the rest ignore them all until the 15th

    good luck keep us posted

I would be careful about opening a Barclays account before BR if you owe them money. There have been cases on here where they have claimed monies in the account when you go BR. I owed money to Barclays so I did not open an account with them until I was BR, just to be on the safe side.

And they were OK with this? Did you get all the facilities? Debit card, internet banking?

Got the Debit card but no online or telephone banking. I really just have it in case I want to buy something where the coop card is still wrongly recognised as an electron card.
