Hey folks,
My first post so thanks in advance!
Annnyway, I'm 20 years old and I'm just about to start at Aston University.
I've applied for a Student account at HSBC via the internet and Halifx at the branch. I've was delined by both. My credit rating is awful, although I am planing to clear my bedts in September as a 21st Birthday present! (I LOVE YOU MUM AND DAD! haha) I was just wondering is there any way at all to get a student account with awful credit ratings?
At the moment I have a Visa Electron card with a basic account. Seeing as Im leaving the relemes of my parents I'd like a card I can use online more and in more places. And the overdraft will be handy too!
Cheers
Eamonn

NatWest and RBS seem very liberal at handing out student accounts. RBS give you free cash and NatWest give you a rail card.0

Also try the co-operative bank. You don't get all the usual freebies that other banks give, but they give a good interest free overdraft rate and they spend thei money ethically. They are also good to students with bad debt. And, although it's a way into the future for you yet, their graduate deal is better than some of the other banks. Good luck at uni.0

They'll no doubt be happy to open the student account, but will probably give you a small overdraft to start with. As long as you stay in the black they should extend this after 6 months or so.0
