your not entitled to any jsa as you quit on your own accord,
Not true... rightly or wrongly so long as the £40k was earnt for a qualifying period (can't remember off hand how long that is) the OP would still be entitled to Contributions Based JSA. Not saying I agree with it, but that's the way it is.0 -

He would be entitled to claim JSA, but his claim would be sanctioned for up to 26 weeks. CB JSA is still subject to sanctions.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Don't know if things have changed, but I know someone who, 4-5 years ago, voluntarily gave up a very well paid job in London and re-located to the North of England for personal reasons.
Absolutely, definitely, and without any element of doubt whatsoever, to my certain knowledge they received Contributions Based JSA for 6 months with no sanctions whatsoever. At the six month point they stopped receiving anything, because they were living with their partner whose income took them above the limit for Income Based JSA.
I also know that the only reason they went to the JobCentre to begin with was to see if there was any way they could continue to get their NI stamp paid. They had no intention of claiming of benefits, believing that they shouldn't be entitled to any as their situation was entirely their own choice. Nevertheless, the JobCentre made them aware that under the current system they were fully entitled to the full amount of JSA and were fairly insistent that they claim it.
If it's handed to you on a plate, I guess most people would take it.0 -

In that case it is likely that the DM decided they had good reason to leave their job, or an error occurred and their claim was not referred to a DM. The rules have not changed.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I claimed JSA for about 5 weeks last summer after I relocated. I resigned from my job where I was living originally and luckily managed to find work in the new area quickly. I relocated for personal reasons but the job centre accepted relocation as a reason for resigning with no fuss at all. The only thing they asked about was whether the company operated in this area, which they don't. If a transfer had been available, it may have been a different story. I'm not advocating this approach but sometimes job searching from a distance is plainly impossible... You just have to bite the bullet.Sealed Pot Challenge #239
