    jordan - if you bought a house in both your names, and let her and your son live in it - in 9 months she might be entitled to a pretty hefty percentage of the mortgage interest payments on her half. Check it out with the Benefits Agency. This would give your son security, and her a vested interest in maintaining the house as she will also benefit in the long term from the capital growth.

    the other angle Id worry about is the child maintainence angle.

    Im not too sure what goes on with the CSA these days with the changes afoot adn all, i suggest you find out.

    I wonder whether you would be able to let to your ex under these rules, ie, shouldnt she be having half of your house, not letting to her. I really dont know, and im not being obstructive, but id hate for something like this to come up when you started spending money in the process
