Heyup.
Just wanted to offer some support; I don't really have much advice to give you but I hope you keep us posted on here with any progress and we will do our best to egg you on.
Chin up; you have come to the right place.

Damn Right you will get it sorted!
Crikey, if I can, anybody can - trust me - I was a complete mess, I don't know where Id be now if it weren't for the good folk on here, helping me come to terms with what I ultimately HAD to do.
I'm a long way from out of the woods yet, but the relief is massive, and it is growing day by day, I want you to feel the same - Bipolar is hard enough as it is.
I know many people find them tiresome, but if you have a Community Psych. Nurse, let them know how much this is bothering you - I actually went into crisis prior to going through my Bankruptcy, and although they couldn't help me with specifics, they were there for support. You may have to be screaming up the walls before you get the care you deserve. Tell them EXACTLY how you feel, pull no punches, they need to see you are in crisis before they do anything - your GP can refer you, but you need to let them see you at your worst!

Thanks Catastrophe - because of the low moods - a "crisis team" is being organised for me.
I know they probably can't and it would be unfair to ask them to get answers for debts.
But thankfully, and really I can't tell you just how much it means to me - everyone here is giving me the support I need.
I know you have all been through or are going through your own problems.
But my goodness to find such caring people makes such a difference.
There are times when we can all get a bit get "down" (me and catastrophe were just unlucky and got it a lot worse).
But to have you all here - when you help everyone that needs it - always in a compassionate and non judgemental way.
And the great relief for me is - you don't mind if anyone is suffering from mental health problems - in fact you give them even more compassion.
Again my sincere thanks.0 -

When I'm able to get to grips and petition for Bankruptcy, I know I lose my share of the equity in the house, the debts are all mine. with current prices my equity is about £19,000. This is nowhere near enough to pay all the debts.
Unfortunately my wife won't be able to re-mortgage and there is nobody who can help. We have one daughter who is at university and only lives at home during the holidays. From what I understand a trustee has 3 years to get the equity. But could immediately sell the house if they wanted.
Would they take my medical condition into account even although the house hasn't had any "adaptions" - and let us stay in the house for a while. I think the point I'm trying to make is would I be given time to sell the house to get the best price.
I do fully realise the house has to be sold.I just need an idea as to how long we may be able to stay.0 -
Hi, normally you would be given up to 12 months to find somewhere else to live, they wouldnt come in straight away and kick you out.
One thing that you could consider, is selling the house yourself before the bankruptcy, that way you get to push for a good price, you keep control of the process. Obviously you would need to hand your half over to the OR when you did go bankrupt, but you could use a small amount of the money to pay for your bankruptcy fees and to put a deposit on a rental property. It would also mean that there would be less stress during the bankruptcy, no negotiating, no going to court to allow you time to move, and as long as you have your half of the money (or thereabouts) to hand over the OR will be quite happy because it is less work for them.Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Thanks you debtinfo, that does make so much sense. And would definately be the best action.
If for whatever reason I can't do this and during bankruptcy the trustee is understandably insisting that the house be sold, can the courts grant permission to stay longer if they deem that my medical condition would be seriously affected.
I'm hoping this would not be necessary because I do know the house must be sold and I dont want to cause any problems for the officials.0 -
The judge certainly has the power to, each case though is highly individual and judged on its own merits, so i cant really say how likely it is that they would give you more timeHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Hi d
just to let you know I have to sell my house (this is due to my divorce) and at times even for me it is so hard to get my head around it. Some days I am like Yah new start for me and Mr Looloo, and I've seen some lovely houses, then like on Friday when I saw a lady outside my house who had viewed it previously my heart drops - yes she might make an offer and I have to move and leave my house of 10 years......
So very up and down......
As DI says maybe see if you can sell the house yourself - esp now there are no HIPs to be paid out for. Get a good deal with an estate agent (they will all negotiate on the fees). Ask them to do the viewings for you so you and the wife go out, give them the times say on a Saturday between 11 and 1, then you know when the house needs to be kept tidy for etc...... and it is not so much stress and worry for you.
Anyway as already said above keep posting and ask away what you need to
