    UPDATE :- My mate has texted me from London to say that he boarded the train as normal and they are having a great (hot) day in the capital. Looks like a story to tell people in the future which they surely will not believe. We will have to carry the booking confirmation form around in our pockets for years to come!!!!

    Fear not - I purchased 2 x round trip tickets for first class travel to Liverpool and used them over the bank holiday - no questions asked. No ID asked for.
