thanks.. I buy my toiletries in my monthly budget of food.. some weeks I spend 20 quid some 25, some only 15! so if I have any money left then I'll get some shower gel.. or deodrant.. or body cream
make up or nice shamppoo comes out of disposable money... this is for me.. to do what I want.. treat myself, socialise .. am I not correct??
I know I should be addressing.. my debt.. but I have just budgeted for xmas, birthdays, dad/mums day, car stuff so I am pretty low up to about jan as I am catching up with myself but once the outgoings drop I will have about 280 left to have for me and to think about banging some of it on the cc's.. I have a snowballing sheet telling me to pay off the lowest amount that runs out in october.. BUT its over about 3 years??? surely the intention of snowballing is to pay it off before the 0% runs out?? I am confused with this.
anyhow I have taken on board about the savings.. I am now trying to find an instant access account x 3!!! I have created a new thread for this in the savings section..
any further suggestions.. ideas... are so very much greatly appreciated.. I need to get my life in check to hopefully this time next year I can start thinking about a family..........:T

Hi,
People are not telling you what you should be spending your money on.
We are just trying to tell you that you do not appear to know where all your money goes every month since there are some omissions from your SOA. Bearing this in mind, the £280 left you may already be spending which will only lead your further into debt.
Howeverm if you do have £280 left at the end of the month and are committed to finally getting out of debt then I would suggest you use this to get rid of your debts.0 -
I think you need to budget for your disposable income, have a set amount each month. Mine is £50 which I take out in cash and that is my money for the month. Every single other penny goes towards household bills and savings. I earn the same as you and I am lucky that I have no commuting costs but I save over half my wages.
You don't need 3 separate savings accounts, just keep a spreadsheet with your "pots" in it.
Edit: My vet does free nurse clinics which include grooming, not the same as a doggy beauty parlour but they'd get rid of any matts. Could be worth asking your vet.0 -

thanks for the suggestion anyhow
Ahhh can see why you would never part from your dogs. my mum has 5, yes, 5 shih-tzu's and they are gorgeous dogs but need grooming regular.. I had a little puppy myself, only had him groomed once then had to give him to someone else due to the breakdown of my marriage and him being home all day. But I will get one again... gorgeous breed.
Can you not learn how to clip them yourself? Buy some dog clippers and a manual or go to some classes? I think it would be really therapeutic to clip and groom the dogs.0 -
Hi
Just wanted to say that I have very large debts and am trying to sort them out via a Debt Management Plan but totally sympathise regarding the dogs.
I show and occasionally breed my dogs but would rather live in a tent and eat beans for the rest of my life than part with them. To me, it would be the same as giving away my children which I am sure nobody on this forum would think is realistic !
Can you shop around for pet insurance ? I find petguard.co.uk offer very good policies at a reasonable price. Also, can you cut back the cost of dog food ? If they are adult dogs, they probably don't need a premium food and could do equally as well on a lower grade food. PM me if you want some suggestions.
Lastly, if you keep on top of brushing and any trimming daily they should never become matted and professional grooming services wouldn't be required. Again if I can help, please PM me.0 -
Will you keep the dogs after you have a baby? They may be "Your life" now but I'm betting that will change. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Hi,
just wanted to say hello as some one in a very simlar position.
I'm over 20k in debt and am with a wonderful girlfriend who I want to build a family with. But we can't do this while Im in debt. So now Im making the big decisions to clear this debt off for good, avoiding all expenses I don't need to pay and unneeded purchases. As soon as I clear my debt I'm planning to start saving for a ring, whether she'll say yes is the only question!Bank Loans: [STRIKE]£25000[/STRIKE] £0- Barclay Card 14%: [STRIKE]£2500[/STRIKE] £0- Student Loan: [STRIKE]£12,500[/STRIKE] £0
Current total [STRIKE]£40,000[/STRIKE] £0:j (100% PAID OFF)0 -

haha its funny how people make comments like this and get narky stating I am telling you all to TELL ME HOW TO SPEND MY MONEY.. :rotfl:
firstly my dogs mean the world to me and whether I have a family or not they will still remain high priority.. I wont lie it will be hard rying to run a family, work and two dogs.. but people have done it for many years and I am have looking after my dogs down to a t!!! to say my feelings will change towards them is pretty... well pathetic, you dont know me as an individual so dont say! simples!
I have shopped about for insurance.. I do this with everything.. I have the lowest rate with marks and sparks for both dogs. The main part of their food is actually paid for by my nan, she too adores them and wishes to contribute to their food.. its called orijen and is costly BUT Joey the boy has food allergies and this is the only food he can have alongside prize choice meat blocks.. which is the ones I purchase. trust me.. I have shopped, researched high and low for the foods.. they were on butchers which they loved with wholemeal biscuit and asda smart price frozen mixed veg but joey is allergic to wheat!!!!
as for the grooming.... your right this is costly and this comes out of my own surplus spend.. I have tried to maintain both coats with daily pruning and grooming but there coats are at an awkward stage and just develop matts every day.. because i work stressfull job in shifts I simply do not have the patience or energy for this alongside playing, training and walking them. BUT there is a few grooming schools that I know of.. I am wondering if they do .. model nights like hairdressers do!!?????
now.. I do know this debt has to be paid off, I am not avoiding it and very much aware of it but as well as it being a high priority to address it, manage my finances.... by the time I get it paid off I'll be in the blinking menopause... and no-one will stop me from having a family - if I can have one!
I dont mena to cause offence to anyone here, the advice I have got is immense and greatly appreciated but what I dont like is people putting stupid thick comments telling me what I will feel towards my dogs if I had a family - how bloody stupid can ya get when ya dont know me ??? phah

No need to throw your toys out of the pram, You came on here to ask advice, everyone has an opinion and is entitled to offer it. Personal abuse and insults help no one. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

This is pointless.
To the OP - I had a dog before my daughter was born. Throughout the 23 years of her life we have continued to have dogs. Normal family life really.
Good luck0
