Considering I only do them in places where I would probably have gone in for a coffee anyway, at times when I'm passing by, and I maximise the value by taking along a friend (means they like me more!) or by stocking up on nice biscuit bars with the reimburse, or buying nothing but espressos to bump my loyalty with the coffee company ... Well I can't publish the tns coffee fee/reimburse details, but I reckon I do pretty well out of it.
That's what I meant earlier about fitting the jobs around your lifestyle. I didn't just mean coffee jobs. "Coffee" could be interchanged wth "burger" or "sandwich". Loads of the food jobs are low pay. But if you are spending 30-40 minutes on it then you have worked to earn it even if this sort of work comes very naturally! I find it reasonably easy too but not everyone is good at it.
That post was aimed more at newbies who think mystery shopping is some sort of get-rich-quick scheme.

You can get a coffee in Pret for 99p..wouldn't you rather spend that, have it at the time of day you want and NOT have to spend 30-40 minutes on the report? I find the data input the most tedious part of the job and it takes up a large part of my evenings so I most certainly don't want to being doing any where I don't get a fee!
That's just me though, each to their own so if it works for you, fair enough.0 -
How is a reimbursement only coffee any different from a reimbursement only meal out??
Personally, I don't see the problem with this particular scenario, the reimbursement is generous, and equates to the reimbursement plus fee total paid for RE station jobs.
The report is easy and quick, I would have a coffee anyway so at least I get my money back.
I do not see anybody moaning about no fee meal jobs, these are just the same, but on an obviously smaller scale.
I am well aware fees are going down, and like Rosy Violet I get the calls from MS companies to do the last minute 'let-down' shops, so hopefully some of the better companies will start to revert back to quality not quantity.
Finally, it is definitely a man thing to talk about the (lack of?) size of things.0 -

But there isn't a convenient Pret for me to go to. If I want a really cheap coffee then I drink it at home - but sometimes I like to go out and pay someone over the odds for a cup of coffee and somewhere nice to sit, particularly if I'm in company. If you read what I said, I said I can write up one of those reports in 10 or 15 minutes - overall I spend 30-40 minutes on the job including the visit - like I say, a reasonable return on my time. Mystery shopping isn't my primary source of income and I don't drive, so what I rate as a good fee differs to what many think. Likewise, I probably put a different value on my time to that of a lot of people. tns coffee jobs work fine for me. Grr. You'd think I'd admitted I inject heroin into kittens rather than that I enjoy a subsidised cup of coffee and slice of cake from the response I've had.ukmonkey wrote:If you need that explaining to you, then good luck in life...you probably need it.:eek:
Evidently it's the use of the word "free" that troubles you here. How about we replace it with "payment in kind"? The products sold by the tns coffee shop happen to be ones I would buy anyway, in places I go anyway, at times I am already there. I enjoy them. Like I've said above, this is not my primary source of income - I actually happen to do these jobs because they're fun and relaxing. So making an enormous profit isn't my primary concern.Scotties_Mum wrote:How is a reimbursement only coffee any different from a reimbursement only meal out??
Quite. But I assume that by enjoying a nice reimbursement meal out I am in fact enraging monkey man. Sorry.0 -
