Yeah a lot of people forget then they get pregnant or need a benefit for being sick and realize they don't qualify..
Ok anyone with experience a company has asked me to do some extra car jobs about an hour and a half from my home would need to get a hotel and do it over 2 days. Is it cheeky to ask for the hotel fee?0 -
I think you might have a higher mileage cost too. I live in a city so never travel more than 10 miles there and back so my expenses is very low. Like you say though, honesty is always the best and as long as you feel like you could argue your corner with HMRC if they ever question your expenses (such as buying goods) then don't sweat too much.
Yes I pay NI through my main job, so I've opted out.
Same here! Mind you I got a shock when doing my tax return this year as they asked if I was exempt from Class 4 and I hadn't a clue - didn't even remember seeing it on the report last year! :rotfl:
I actually opted out of class 2 last year when my only income was from MSing but it was so low I didn't want to reduce it further by paying NIC. Now it's paid through my job so I'm not paying extra on my MS income.0 -

If you don't ask you don't get!
Depends if you've agreed already or not. If the jobs make it worthy of staying overnight (which they seem to) and the company are desperate then I would ask for at least a contribution to cover some/all of the hotel.0 -
NO egg jobs near me

To save all the worry on the tax question if you donate all items such as shopping, stuffed toys etc to charity then these are tax deductable.
HMRC told me if you need to answser questions on the product e.g. pizza, burger etc as part of the job then it is tax deductable. If you don't answer questions on the product e.g. milk, eggs etc from a supermarket then it is payment in kind and is included in your tabable pay (this is where you donate these items to charity of course)
Couldn't think of anything witty to say so just keeping the space until I can

Yeah, thats more or less how I've been working it. Food/drink are deductable. Groceries/petrol are taxable.
There are some things that get bought solely for MSing but I include them as taxable as it keeps the difference clear and the tax isnt that much anyway. I personally dont want the taxman prying into my affairs for the sake of a few quid.0
