iPad to be sold by DSG Group (Currys/PC World) - can anyone confirm this and details?

Hi all,

As an avid technology fan (not an avid Apple fan, I don't want an argument on why the iPad is stupid), I am interested in purchasing the iPad to use, but more interested in the 3G model so I could use on the train, in the car etc.

Being a Boots employee, I can get 10% off DSGi Group vouchers which could potentially save me 53 pounds on the price of the iPad.

It has been confirmed to me over the telephone that the megastores are stocking the iPad on launch date (28th May), mega stores being classed not as retail parks but super stores such as the one at J9 in Wednesbury if anyone is close.

I just wondered if any of you had further details on this, in terms of pre-orders etc. I have been told if allowed by Apple DSG will do a midnight launch of the product!

Its Only rumored to be sold by the DSGI group buy a unknown email sent to a popular website. I know in USA Apple would only sell it through the Apple Stores or Apple's Online Store. If they do sell it at Apple as well as the DSGI group. I know if i was going to buy one (which i wouldn't) i'd get it from Apple. Mainly because of if anything goes wrong. then you haven't got the hassle of going to a PCworld Store.

No, it's been confirmed now. DSGi will have a 60-day exclusive marketing period - the only other places you will be able to buy an iPad during the first two months will be from Apple's website (or an Apple store if you happen to have one near you).

I can confirm!

It'll be sold in selected stores only (those with Apple-trained staff - Apple will not allow us to transfer any stock to stores who don't have them), exclusively for 60 days. No idea on pricing yet.

How easily will the Boots discount work? Detest the idea of the ipad myself, but would like to be the bringer of good news to my mate who works there and wants one.

Tell your mate to go onto the Boots My Offers website - he can get his login and password from his manager. You get your discount on there. It's basically 10% off PC World/Currys Vouchers so if he gets them soon enough he will get them in time for Friday!

Ordered mine 530 pounds worth for 477! - seems a decent deal

Yes, we would. But as always, it must be for our own use, and we can't sell on for profit.
