Hello
I have bought a firewire lead as I am trying to copy videos taken on a handycam which copies on to mini dv cassette tapes. When the lead is plugged into the computer and camcorder I am not getting any Icons showing on the pc in (Devices in my removable storage) . You have probably gathered by now I AM CLUELESS.
- Any ideas.

It's been ages since I last did this myself, but I don't think you actually get an icon appearing which indicates the presence of removable storage, as MiniDV tape is not like a USB flash drive or memory card. I think you need to fire up your video editing software and click the option to import, and then the PC should recognise your camcorder and let you import the footage.0

However, the first problem you need to address is the fact that the camera is not showing in "My Computer" as a valid device.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
How old is the camcorder?
I had problems with my old Panasonic Mini DV camcorder. It was reciognised without problems under XP but when I moved to Vista it wasn't. The only way it would recognise it was if I rebooted the PC with the camcorder connected and switched on.
Under Windows 7 even that doesn't work. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
