Small car recommendations

Hi all,
I wonder if any of you could suggest a suitable car for me. I'll be traveling about 75 miles a day, five days a week, mostly motorway miles. I'll be doing this mileage for nine months, and then will just be used as a local run around. I'm looking for a car that will last me about two years, maybe a bit more and I'm not bothered about re-selling it, if it's got life left in it then then I'll gift it to my brother, or if not, scrap it. I'm a new driver so insurance will be a factor, as will my height - I'm 6ft 5 so don't want to be driving with scrunched up legs or ending it with a bent neck. My budget is around £1000 if it's doable?
