I am looking to buy my first home, there is one that is greatly located and with two bedrooms only problem is the living room ceiling has caved in(flood damaged) and the gas has been disconnected. Apart from that all it needs it a lick of paint i think. What your advice on cost of repairs furture problems and should i really buy it.
Bearing in mind this property is selling for around £60000 but houses on this street have went for upto £110000 is it worth the hassle and or cost?

Why did it flood? Where did the water come from? Has that been sorted and, if so, why wasn't the rest put right at the same time?0

Forgot to mention the house was repossed, the walls have been plastered and i can do no other damage apart from the ceiling but i am no expert. They are not 100% sure (well person showing me round wasnt)how it flooded something along the lines of leaking pipe upstairs. They had some builders in for a few days fixing some of the damage would say only ceiling needs done now.0

Well, ask yourself why the vendor is asking £50,000 less for it than those other houses on the same street. That's almost half price! Seems like a big hit to take for the sake of a ceiling and a lick of paint, particularly as the other work needed was done. I'd be asking a few more questions if I was you.0
