Paypal not allowing my buyer to pay!

What to do?

She's trying to pay by debit card and last used it for an ebay purchase a few days ago without problems.

Her account has "more than enough funds"

The system is asking her to link her card to her bank account? Apparently this takes a few days?

She has feedback over 500, so think its a genuine problem. She's quite desperate to get this sorted tonight so she can have the item for the weekend.

Anyone know what she, or I, can do to get this sorted for her?

PS: I sent her a separate invoice to try to circumvent ebay, but Paypal still not accepting her payment.

Paypal always take balance funds before they take money off a debit card. So maybe because she's trying to use the card thats causing problems. I think there have been some recent hiccups I think Soolin said she had to re verify her account or some such thing

With paypal, when you first join, you get a certain amount of "credit" - this just means that they accept the debit card as payment.

After a while, you get to your limit - so they ask you to confirm your details - this usally involves registering for this, they then pay an amount of money into your account and then you have to contact them to tell them what money was deposited (only usually 1p or 2p) then you are confirmed.

After this, because they have a source of funds, if your card expires, and you buy something, they will then pay for it by e-cheque - this is just a longer way of paying for something - most people don't remember to change their card on their paypal account when it expires (we didn't!) so had to pay for something by e-cheque - you don't notice anything different when paying for it - but then you sort of twig that the money hasn't come out of your bank account as quick as normal or you haven't had the item and it's because th seller is waiting for the money before sending it to you.

Sorry for the waffle - the above is just really based on what we have found - we did have to go through this whole process of confirmation etc and this is what we were told at the time.

Lilly - I had a good root round paypal last night and it seems that your response is correct.

As I said to OH this morning, Paypal really should warn you after 5 times of use or £x spent that you will need to verify your card soon else you won't be able to buy. I can understand why they do it, but they don't tell anyone plainly until they find out the hard way, like my buyer.

They do warn you, just like they warn you as a seller that verification will be needed.

I think as the warning is so gentle people sort of ignore it and hope it will go away.

I had to reverify my long standing paypal account recently for some obscure reason. You get a warning that comes up when you log in that you need to do it, it mentions 4 steps, but it lets you bypass the message and carry on with paypal. However if you click 'more info' only then does it say that if you fail to verify your account will be restricted until all the 4 steps have been undertaken.

3 of the 4 can be done immediately but the 4th is to link your payment card to the paypal account and that can take a week, but paypal just refer to a 'couple of days'.

So if you ignore the message the first time you see it you actually run out of time to verify due to the card needing verifciation, and your account gets restricted.
