Unhappy (ex) buyer. What can he do?

A few weeks ago I sold a rather large item, in the auction I specified collection only and added that I would prefer cash on collection (yep, well aware of those rules but as it was a 3 day auction I hoped it would fly under the radar and it did).
It sold for £70, rather cheap for the item but I needed rid of it and that was fine by me. 3 days later I finally managed to contact the winner who said he would collect the week after and would call. No phone call, no collection. I emailed again asking him to please collect as the item was in my way. No reply. further messages through ebay received no response.
In the end I sent a mutual cancellation, he agreed to it, I got my fees back, relisted and blocked him.
So, yesterday I get a message from him, complaining that he was blocked on the new auction and if I would remove the block he would collect this time. Not a chance thinks I, so I politely tell him I'm leaving things the way they are, no hard feelings. Auction ends, makes more than last time and winner collects item today, all happy
Tonight I get a message from the first buyer telling me he is reporting me to ebay for not selling to him (he agreed to a mutual remember) and for saying Id like cash on collection (auction is long over) He tells me "I should observe the rules if you are permitted to use the Ebay facilities again." :rotfl: Sour grapes I imagine because the price was still cheap and he's missed a bargain!
I've no doubt he'll neg me, I have 100% feedback at present but sell once in a blue moon (I mostly buy) but how will this affect me? Chances are I wont sell anything again this year and with nutters like this I think Im glad!

What a twit! (Him that is, not you)
If you have had a mutual cancellation I'm not sure that he can leave you feedback at all, I'm sure someone will come along in a minute to tell you if that is true.
As for reporting you, I can't see ebay being that interested if the auction is long past I'd wait to see and deal with it if and when they contact you. I certainly wouldn't worry about it and I can worry for England
Unblock him.....yeah right, lol.0 -

I didn't think ebay would care now with the auction being long gone, but I just needed to be certain because I am worrying slightly lol0 -
i believe he can leave feedback on a mutual, but not if you had reported him as a non paying bidder.
If he leaves feedback, just add to it factually.
People act very strangely sometimes!0 -
I forgot to mention, dont know if it makes any difference but even though my feedback is 700 Ive still not sold enough to get any star ratings and probably wont have still with his feedback.
Does that make a difference?0 -

Unfortunately yes as for seller performance calcuations it is only the past 30 days and then the last 365 days that mastter. So the smaller the feedback in that period th emor elikely you are to run into problems with ebay.
However, I would let him leave his neg, you can't stop him and you would have the satisfaction of knowing that it will reflect very badly on him to future sellers who might just check the feedback left.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks Soo, I've resigned myself to the neg, Ill factually respond when it comes
I was more concerned that I was going to get moaned at by ebay for asking for cash and selling to someone else but now Im thinking about it logically rather than worrying there isn't anything he can do is there?
Im wondering whether to sell a few low price, low postage items to offset my rating if he does leave feedback.0 -
Ebay won't care at all about his pathetic whinings about your refusing to sell to him, he agreed to a mutual in the first instance so it just makes him look a little, um, light of brains.
As for asking for cash, the worst that cna happen is that ebay will give you a slap on the wrist, but I doubt they will care at this stage and probably write off your buyer as a bit pathetic.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Horribly disappointed in series 2, not enough Eric. Just waiting for my June book now.
Don't give up on ebay yet, your buyer is unusual ..another good reason for imposing some sort of IQ test on users I think.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
