The way I've always done it is to highlight the link, right click and copy, then paste into thread.

Just right click on the url in you browser and copy [CRTL C] , then highlight with you mouse the word you want to contain the link say for example : barginunter then click on the ' blue world icon ' in advanced mode and a box will pop up.
