Cleaning Wood Floors ?
sspyrou
I have recently installed engineered wood flooring.
As it is wood, I assume I need to avoid water.
My dilemma is that they are fairly dirty and need a clean (more than a sweep and the odd wet wipe clean).
What is the best way or best product(s) and tools ?
Help appreciated.

You can use water - you just have to make sure it's very little and you don't leave pools of it standing on the floor. I use Astonish No Rinse floor cleaner (99p for a bottle in the 99p shop). Bit of that in some water, dip in a microfibre flat floor mop, wring it out really well, and mop quickly, so there's no standing water left. I usually open all the windows when I do it too, so that the floor dries quickly.
Bruce Flooring (http://www.bruce.com) do various floor cleaners, and they have a pack with a flat mop with terry-cloth covering. You may well find that the manufacturer of your floor does something similar too, and may even have instructions on their website for cleaning.0 -
Nothing special - hot soapy water and a clean cloth, well rung out and a bit of elbow grease. Buff up with a dry cloth . Works every time.
Have one of those floor dry wipes to pick up the dut and bits first then a good wipe down once a week.0 -
I use hot water, making sure no pools of water are left. If they need a 'deep' clean, then I use Mr Muscle wood and laminate floor cleaner, it's really good and doesn't leave the wood slippy. Are we still waiting to sing as hummingbirds?0

I used to live in a house with hardwood flooring. Never again! Anyway, this is what I did:
1. vacuum dust & hairs with hoover hose attachment
2. go over floor again with swiffer-type dry cloths
3. use proprietary wooden floor cleaner as directed on bottle, with mop - try Waitrose/John Lewis/Robert Dyas/decent hardware shop etc. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the one I used. (Began with a K?) It didn't need rinsing and left a nice shine.
When feeling lazy, I omitted step 3...0
