How do you know?

I know this isn't a technical question but I just could do with some advice.
my partner and i are looking for our first house. I ve got an offer for my place and have accepted it. We ve seen a couple of places, one of which my partner loves. it ticks all the right boxes with regard to our requirements.
The problem is i just couldn't see my self living there, it was a nice place but i didn't fall in love with it. Talking it over with my partner last night, he was dissappointed but also concerned that i am looking for something i ll never find.We don't want to lose our buyer, what if i never find a house to love?
So i just wondered, did you fall in love with your home and just know that it was the right place? Or as my partner said do i need to look at how many of our requirements the place ticks and choose with my head?
We are planning on staying in the place for at least 4 years so i want it to be right.
But do you think it s only in books that you fall in love with a house?
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely
in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways -
Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up,
totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO, What a Ride!

no its not fairy tales, i knew the min i stepped into my house that i WAS buying it, but i was taking everything into account, not just the house, the area ect,but i made the decition 3mins into viewing, i feel that if it really feels wrong then back out, if its just a"not good with change sorta thing" it will come in time,

I totally agree, I saw many many houses before I viewed this one, all felt.. not wrong but almost that there wasnt anything there, that they were other peoples houses. This one, however, felt like it was waiting for me. Right from when we moved in I felt like I've never lived anywhere else.
Oh and for the record this house DIDNT tick all the boxes for me, the garden is very much smaller than I wanted, the third bedroom is like a shoebox.. BUT I still wanted it the second I saw it and I'm very happy here :)
