I'm looking for a room scenter, I quite like the smell of fresh air with the windows flung open but OH said that a delicate scent in the living room might be nice for a change.
I would like a continuous one like a battery operated or a plug in one but because they are a bit pricey at around £4 or 5 each I would like a recommendation before I buy. I'm looking for a scent that isn't too artificial, I have smelt some that seem to be like old ladies perfumed talcum powder IYKWIM so help me choose please!

I bought an aromastone- its electric - will last for years and years and you add your own scent to the top - try orange, cinnamon and clove - one drop of each and the room smells like xmastime. I dont like the artificial ones at all - they make me sneeze and dont smell real.Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

I buy oils from the bodyshop to go with my oil burner (with a tealight candle). Oceanus is my favourite smell, but I also have a lovely "wintery" one called brandied apple which smells just like Christmas. The bodyshop has a great range & they're often on 3 for 2.0

I love vanilla, you absolutely GOT to open the lid and smell the oils before you buy though cause some can be decidedly dodgy. I use a tea light burner thingy as well. I fill it with water and put a couple of drops of oil on top. No electricity needed to keep it going and tea lights can be bought dead cheap at tesco/asda/ikea etc.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0

I love the smell of MacIntosh apple, for the oil burner, tealight thingy, i buy the oil from local garden centre, a couple of drops in water and the house smells delicious for hours:D:pwould like to make it known it is not a DHN, she's dancing

Mmmm, Yankee Candle do some great room fragrances. I love Clean Cotton and use the candles as my main room fragrance. For special occassions (lol) I will occassionally spray the actual room spray although I use this sparingly as its dear. I do love it though and as someone who gets migraines triggered by many perfumes I can honestly say this doesn't affect me at all.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000

It's a bit early yet, but when your heating comes on you could put a glass of water onto a radiator and put some drops of essential oil into the water. The heat from the rad will make the water evaporate and spread the scent. Cheapo! The tea lights and burners are good, but I've got a dreadful habit of forgetting about them and end up letting them burn unattended which is never a good idea.
As Kiwichick says, have a good niff at the bottles in the shop before you buy - some of them are expensive and as they are mostly intended for complementary medical use aren't necessarily nice enough to want to fill your house with the smell.0 -
In our oil burner thingy i use a passion fruit and melon oil.
Again, i add a drop of water to the oil so softens the scent.
Smells wonderful.

I buy vanilla from IKEA, they are £1 each and large (the size of a whiskey glass) they last ages and are not over powering and whent hey are finished you can use them as tea light holders or keep nik naks in them.0

The plug ins have been associated with an increase in depressive symptoms as well *ALLEGEDLY* because they are chemicals. Be careful with essential oils as they are quite potent in some cases, and do have effects on us physically.
I burn incense from the local shop - about 40p a pack, or else I have an oil burner with the mint cream bodyshop fragrance. Orange peel on the radiator is good too;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!
