Self employed- AM i entitled to help with housing benefit

Hello , I have an opportunity of doing some telemarketing from home and a family member has kindly given me most of the deposit to relocate which is great, so i can get my own place.
I was previously a carer for my sick mum , mum and dad split up and now that they have reunited he will obv look after her
I am self employed or just started out and wondered if i am entitled to any housing benefit to pay my rent and council tax benefit.
I will be working only 8 hours initially some weeks and other times 12 hours at £8 per hour, its not much i know but i need some help.
Would i be entitled to something.
I am also a bit worried about the landlord finding out I may be claiming housing benefit as some people frown upon this, does it take long to get?
Really would appreciate any advice you can give
Thank you

Yes you are entitled if your net profit is low enough. You will be required to submit accounts usually every three months. Housing Benefit should be paid within a few weeks but sometimes it can take a couple of months. There is a regulation which you can use to force them to pay you an interim figure but I forget what it is - my brother told me it.
You won't be entitled to working tax credit but you may be entitled to Income Support.0 -

From what the OP has said there would be no qualification for Income Support as he will no longer be caring for someone.0 -

You will have to tell your landlord you are getting housing benefit.0

No he won't. There needs to be no contact with the Landlord if the tenant can provide proof of rent. There hasn't been a need to tell a Landlord for well over a decade.
Isn't that purely for existing tenants? New tenants have to be credit scored, and provide proof of rent - well surely if they are having to pay rent with HB then they have to provide proof of it.
I don't know of any landlord that would rent to anyone without either proof of income (or other means to pay) or proof of HB claim. All over the place, from the popular culture to the propaganda system, there is constant pressure to make people feel that they are helpless, that the only role they can have is to ratify decisions and to consume.0 -
I shouldnt need to worry about a credit score as i will rent privately so that should avoid that.0
