ex police house valuations

hi,
im new to the site and looking for advice.
We have brought a 3 bed semi-detatched ex police house last year. The house was in need of remodernisation as the previous owners had strange ideas to match their strange taste along with poor DIY skills.
The house is quite large with a huge p-shaped conservatory along the whole of the back of the house we also have two lounges and three large bedrooms. The garden is approx 130 feet by about 45 feet with a double length detatched garage. Other houses in our area are quite small with very limited gardens for children to play. We also have a lot of new builds around us which are very overlooked with very little out door space.
When we puchased the house the asking price was £165k and when the valuer came out he didnt think it was worth that much (modernising)!! so they reluctantly agreed on £147 as they wanted a quick sale (moving to the sea side with family).
Now one year on the house is in TIP TOP CONDITION (we have the blisters to prove it) we are thinking of moving.
Does anyone know what difference being an ex police house will have on the resale price....??? and how to handle the sale.
We welcome any advice on ex police houses?
