manchester terminal 2

hi. i havent been abroad for 6 or 7 years and much has probably changed.

what is there regarding eating places at manchester airport. would it be cheaper to get entry into one of the escape lounges and have a coffee and a bit of breakfast? the website for manchester airport advertises the price at £15.

is there a wetherspoons that will do breakfast any cheaper?

theres 3 adults going and we fly at 09.25.

I flew with 2 friends from Manchester T2 to Newark in March.

We booked into the lounge as it was a special holiday, however didn't get to stay there as long as we would have liked. We were on the 8.25am flight (same one as you before the clocks went forward), and got to check in at about 6am - however, once we checked in we were advised to be at the gate for 6.30 due to 'additional security checks'. We ended up getting to the gate at about 7.15, and had to queue for a bit, but got straight on the plane, so there wasn't much hanging around.

The lounge is good - you get unlimited drinks (tea/coffee/soft drinks/alcohol(if you stomach it at that time of the morning!)/water), then there's pastries, toast, porridge, fruit to eat so you can fill yourself up until you get fed on the plane. Plus there's papers & magazines to read but you can't take them (if they're watching!!). Plus you get somewhere nice and calm/comfy to sit and relax.

The terminal itself is ok though as it's been recently refurbished. There's plenty of places to eat, and it shouldn't be too busy at that time of the morning. I personally think £15 for the lounge is good value if you get to spend at least an hour in there.

Take a look at the manchester airport website - it tells you all about the exact restaurants and shops there are in each terminal - www.manchesterairport.co.uk

    Have a great holiday!

Interesting post. We fly on 12th June from Terminal 2 leaving at 10.30am. I was wondering if it would be worth spending £15 each to go into the Escape lounge. Are there bottles of water available to take away with you? That would save us a little bit as we could take them on to the plane with us!

They had stopped doing the toast when we went at Christmas as someone hadn't been watching and the toaster went on fire!!
;) If you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

In Feb 2009 they had bottles of water in the Escape Lounge. Don't know if they still have it. In April this year we were in the Styal Lounge (Came free with the holiday booking) and they did not have bottled water.

Best place to buy bottles of water is at the Boots shop, unless WH Smiths are doing special deals.

We were advised to go down to Arrivals at T2 after checking in and using Greggs were you could get a coffee and bacon/sausage sandwich for around £2.00. We didn't try it as we were short of time.

Are you sure it was T2? This suggests they are only at T1.

There are 'kiddy' bottles of Buxton water in the Escape lounge. I don't think you're really supposed to take them with you, but we did manage to sneak a few when no one was looking :p

Saying that, you'd probably be better buying one of the large bottles from WH Smith as it would last you much longer (especially if you are landing in a hot country)!

We have a long haul flight to the tropics so we will need plenty of water! I fly frequently from Term 3 and I have discovered that the cheapest water there is in the Duty Free shop. It is not chilled but even if you get the chilled stuff it has warmed up by the time you board your flight.

I think on balance we have decided to give the Escape lounge a miss. We do like to have a wander around as we will be sitting for so long. If we had paid £15 I would be wanting to get my monies worth:)

Frankie and Benny's in T2 do breakfast, expensive compared to normal but not bad for airport prices!
