V5c Logbook Returns

Hi all. Am just after peoples experience on this. I have found and agreed to purchase a new (to me) car. My current vehicle has private plates on it, and was also registered to my old address. I have been to the DVLA office, filled out the paperwork to put my reg on retention, and to change logbook etc to new address. I received the new tax disc, together with reg to be put on current vehicle yesterday (to new address), so am now just waiting for the retention certificate and V5c to be sent.
How long have people found they have waited for a new logbook in similar situations? I know the website says up to 4 weeks, but am eager to get my hands on my new car before this one stops working (already had to call RAC out to it this week).
Cheers
