I am trying to book some tickets, but dont want to book advanced tickets as I dont want to be tied to a specific train. If i get a supersaver off peak return, but book onto a train (using the trainline) can I use this ticket on any train if I happended to miss the one booked onto?
I know it will be a bit more expensive, but if I missed the train I dont want the extra costs.
Thanks

Yes you can - though the train you use must be an off peak one that the ticket would have been valid on had you booked it instead.
Don't use thetrainline - use a train operating company website and avoid fees.
Or just buy at the station on the day - it will be the same price and if your plans fall through altogether you've lost nothing.0 -
Thank you.
I have to make the journey as its for a meeting for work, and they will be booking it for me! I'm supposed to do it as cheaply as possible.
I just want to have a seat booked as I'm travelling to London I expect the train will be busy, but want the flexibilty not to use that train if the meeting runs over.

There is a bit missing from the current trainline TV ad:
"You can save up to 43% by using the trainline.com" ADD "you can save even more by NOT using the trainline.com"0
